This is just another of the great things on offer for visitors to the Festival. Apart from the 316 visiting boats (including 25 historic workboats), there will be the jazz bands, folk groups, circus skills to try, dance groups, falconry and, of course, the Great Football Speed Challenge and Ball Jugglers!

Join a BCN Explorer Cruise on your way to the National Festival
The Explorer Cruises are organised by the Birmingham Canal Navigations Society in conjunction with the IWA.
They are an ideal opportunity to experience the interest of these waterways and to help campaign for their retention and improvement. We have found that many boaters prefer the additional security of cruising in company with a small number of others and they enjoy the social side of informal gatherings at the designated mooring locations.
Groups of around 15 boats, each with an experienced leader, will be cruising from various starting points on the BCN between 13th and 19th August, leaving time to get to the Festival site, via either Wolverhampton ‘21’ or Stourbridge.
To take part contact Brenda Ward, 0121 355 6351 Email: boundarypost@gmail.com. We will try to arrange the best Explorer Cruise to suit your plans. Depending on demand, proposed starting points are Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Salford Junction (for those approaching via Grand Union or Birmingham and Fazeley Canals)
February 2008 Update
“Local Employer to buy 200 Festival Tickets for Residents !”
Local residents were delighted to hear that the city’s largest private employer, Birmingham Midshires, has offered to purchase 200 admission tickets to the Festival. These are being purchased with the specific aim of enabling local residents to attend and details of how these will be distributed are currently being discussed. However the IWA Festival organisers were quick to thank Birmingham Midshires for their generosity and excellent support for the community. IWA Festivals are happy to badge these free tickets as 2 for 1 – thus enabling twice as many families to benefit.
