Overview

The talk will explain why the Wey & Arun was built, its brief glory days, its collapse and the restoration which has been done this summer, as well as future plans.  The speaker was in the Royal Navy for 44 years but, on retiring to Goldalming, found the only maritime venture nearby was the Wey & Arun Canal.  He has been variously, the vice-chairman, treasurer, fund-raiser and occasional navvy for the past twelve years.
