Action on Trolley Dumping on the Staffs & Worcester Canal- Kidderminster
Trolley Dumping on the Staffs & Worcester Canal Kidderminster
Subsequent to representations by IWA to the Chief Executive at Wyre Forest District Council concerning the ongoing trolley dumping problems at Tesco Kidderminster, a meeting was held at Wyre Forest council office in Kidderminster on 17 May 07 to discuss this on-going issue further.
Representatives from all the large stores located along this stretch of canal were in attendance along with local representatives of British Waterways.
Tesco have now assigned a company to retrieve the trolleys on their behalf; British Waterways has written to IWA stating that they believe that this new procedure has proved to be successful and that they have received very few comments from concerned users about the continued presence of trolleys in the canal.
Further meetings will take place to ensure that this problem continues being monitored carefully and thoroughly.
The BW Customer Services Supervisor has confirmed that trolleys IWA members had referred to them via the Lengthsman report forms submitted to BW had been retrieved.
