Grantham Canal Restoration Society are pressing for full restoration of the Grantham Canal alongside BW and the six local authorities along the route. Since 1990, one road-bridge, three farm-bridges and one footbridge have been restored to navigable height and five locks have been restored. 22 miles of the canal now have an all-weather towing path. Local authority support has enabled a series of improvement along the canal, assisted by WRG Canal Camps and weekend work parties.

This work was showcased by the IWA's national trailboast festival , which was held at Woolsthorpe on the Lincolnshire end of the canal in May 2007
