(Line of canal in various ownerships)
In spite of suffering well over a century of neglect, and a military attack by the Home Guard, the 18 miles constructed of the unfinished Leominster Canal still includes two large aqueducts, tunnels, bridges, culverts, miles of adjoining footpaths, some buildings and wonderful landscape. The Friends of the Leominster Canal was formed in 2002 to provide a voice for the canal’s supporters. The society’s aim is to maintain and preserve the route of the canal and its built structures, and to promote the canal.
