The river runs from the start of the Driffield Navigation at Struncheon Hill Lock to the Humber at Kingston-upon-Hull. There are no locks and this 20-mile stretch is tidal. The lower section forms the Port of Hull, operated by Associated British Ports, but most of the river is a free navigation and does not have a navigation authority. At the confluence of the River Hull and the Humber is Hull Marina, which is owned and operated by British Waterways.
