(Tidal river and artificial flood relief channel controlled by EA)
IWA’s Cambridge Branch and the Great Ouse Boating Association along with the Borough of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk, the Environment Agency and all recognised the need for a navigable tidal connection to the northern end of the Great Ouse Flood Relief Channel and have promoted various solutions.  The favoured solution had entailed two new locks rising from the relief channel to the river Nar, which would then add an extra 4 miles of navigable waterway to Kings Lynn, along with the construction of a 200-berth marina.  A tidal lock from the marina would then provide access to the sea.  However it now appears increasingly likely that a new marina will be built on the site of old docks on the tidal Great Ouse in Kings Lynn and a connection made from there. King’s Lynn Marina & Waterways Trust have been formed and are currently driving the project
