WOW (Wild Over Waterways) is a national initiative to enthuse, involve and inspire children and young people about Britain's inland waterways to which IWA is an advisor.  WoW encourages the safe and responsible use of the waterways by children and young people through having a clear emphasis on safety - stay SAFE - S tay A way F rom the E dge - on all its materials and activities.

The WOW website, aimed at children, their parents and teachers is crammed with interesting information and a wealth of activities for cool classroom lessons or fun things to do at home on rainy days. Children can learn about what it takes to be a lock-keeper, which canals are near them, where wildlife live or how to create colourful bat and swan puppets.

New information and activity packs are available to inspire children to learn about the history of canals and how they work. Help and advice about how to plan a school visit to 18 sites across the country is provided for teachers and additional activities can be downloaded for families to complete that complement work done at school.
