Chester & District Branch

IWA's Chester & District Branch covers a wide area from the Wirral, across to Middlewich and up to the Bridgewater Canal in the north.  We have monthly social meetings as well as a great programme of walks along the various waterways in our area.

10 January 2012 - ''Waterways Property Development - how to do it right''
Mike Coates and Marcus Chaloner from BW.  Mike and Marcus will talk through, with examples, BW's approach to property development, both on their land and by third parties.  This will cover their approach to design, heritage, environmental and waterway issues as well as talking through the financial/viability approach.

Throughout the year branch members raise funds for the waterways through lockwinds, rallies and local events with our superb Branch Sales stand.  We also organise waterway clean-ups and educational events to promote the care and maintenance of our waterways.

Our waterway festivals are designed to raise awareness about the waterways in a particular area, raise funds and also show civic leaders how a vibrant waterway can boost the local economy.

Northwich River Weaver Festival - (June 23-24  2012).  A festival of arts, music and family fun on the the river Weaver in Northwich. The IWA, River Weaver Navigation Society, Development of Arts Northwich and local boating clubs are joining forces to create a fabulous interactive celebration on the River Weaver. With a program of water-based entertainment, cultural and family events, including Wild Over Waterways, bell boats, vintage narrow boats, arts & crafts, brass bands and all the usual boat rally excitement.
