'Welsh Towns' is a series of programmes being broadcast on BBC One Wales currently and hosted by Eddie Butler. The first programme shown on Monday 6th February featured Pontypridd and included an article about the Galmorganshire Canal. An interview with our own Bill Hockey was included. This progamme can be viewed at BBC iPlayer. Select BBC One then Wales.
Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal Bicentenary
200 years of Mon & Brec heritage will be celebrated this year. There is an extensive programme of events beginning this month with something to interest all tastes and all ages. Click here for the full programme and above right for the Mon & Brec Trust website.
Swansea Canal
Midi Clean-up on March 25th - a general clean-up along the canal at Clydach, and weed removal from the waterway in Clydach (and possibly Ynysmeudwy depending upon numbers of volunteers)
Balsam Bash - SCS are planning a balsam bash in June / July ... date to be confirmed. Pulling of Himalayan Balsam to prevent seeding. Planting of native plants to replace balsam.
Ponty Paddle - August 2012 (Probably weekend of August 18th) date and details to be confirmed.
Waterways Recovery Group – The WRG will be carrying out work in the disused lock chambers (removing trees and vegetation) in June.
