WHY NOT ORGANISE AN IWA FESTIVAL?
IWA Campaign and Trailboat Festivals are not organised directly by the IWA. Organisations with a strong interest in restoring and developing a local waterway or a feature on it, or promoting an under used waterway, are invited to organise one of these festivals on behalf of the IWA Festivals Committee as a means of increasing public support for their project and interest in the waterway.
Suitable organisations would be restoration trusts & societies, local authorities, IWA branches, canal societies or some other local interested group; preferably a combination of these. We will provide comprehensive organising advice and moral support, the use of our name, and a little financial support.
IWA Campaign Festivals are held on a waterway that is accessable by narrowboats. IWA Trailboat Festivals are held on a landlocked and isolated stretch of waterway. More details can be found in the pdf document below the table: - 'Festivals Planing Basics'.
The various other Planning Manuals listed below can likewise be viewed the same way. These will give you a very good idea of what you would be letting yourselves in for. All planning team members should print and read their own copies.
