IWA Annual Members' Meeting 2017

IWA's 2017 Annual General Meeting took place on Saturday 30th September 2017 at Aldercar High School, Daltons Close, Langley Mill, Nottingham, NG16 4HL.

Programme for the Day:

The Annual General Meeting is the formal part of the day-long Annual Members' Meeting, the full timetable of which is as follows:

09:30 Hall opens for members.  Teas and coffees available
10:00 Welcome by Ivor Caplan:
Presentations: Local success, grass-roots campaigning
10:05 Chris Howes – IWA Peterborough Branch
10:20 Geoff Wood, Mick Butler - IWA Northampton Branch
10:35 Presentation of National Awards – Andrew Hemmings – IWA National Awards Officer
10:55 Special Award to members with 60 years + membership
11:10 Interval for teas and coffees
11:30 Annual General Meeting - Les Etheridge, IWA National Chairman and Jonathan Smith, IWA National Treasurer
12:30 Presentation: IWA over the next 10 years - Peter Johns, Chairman Marketing Committee and Paul Rodgers, Trustee elect
13:00 Lunch (free of charge, but must be pre-booked, see below)
13:45 Depart for Afternoon Visits

Afternoon Visits

2.15pm - Walking tour of Langley Mill which marks the point where the Cromford Canal (under restoration) meets the Erewash Canal and the now derelict Nottingham Canal.  Visitors will be toured around the site by volunteers of the Erewash Canal Preservation and Development Association and the visit will include the restored Pumping House and Toll House.
Langley Mill is a 5 - 8 minute drive from the Annual Members' Meeting venue.

3.00pm prompt - Two hour boat trip along the Cromford Canal.  Numbers are limited to 40 members and so tickets will be offered on a first come, first served basis with a waiting list.  Tickets for the boat trip must be collected when registering on the day of the AGM.

The embarkation point for Birsdwood is approximately 30 minutes drive from the Annual Members' Meeting venue.

Afternoon Sightseeing

Members had the choice of taking part in a walking tour of Langley Mill led by John Baylis and volunteers from Erewash Canal Preservation and Development Association or a 2 hour boat trip along the Cromford Canal on Birdswood.
