Cruising Rings: One Afternoon

The UK waterways network offers a variety of cruising rings or loops which offer boaters a way of exploring part of the waterways system without necessarily having to see the same bit of waterway twice.

See below for examples of what might be achievable in an afternoon.

East London Ring

Waterways: Hertford Union Canal, Lee Navigation, Limehouse Cut, Regent's Canal
Distance: 6 miles (wide canal)
No. of Locks: 8 (wide locks)
Travelling time: 4 hours

Oxford Ring

Waterways: River Thames, Dukes Cut, Oxford Canal
Distance: 6 miles
No. of Locks: 5 (2 narrow locks, 3 river locks operated by lock keepers)
Travelling time: 3 hours
