Our branch has again teamed up with a local Primary school. This time Rothersthorpe, to create another story in pictures under the M1 Bridge. In June 2018, Rothersthorpe school children painted a mural depicting ‘Our Canal through the Seasons’. They had a great time splashing paint around and did a wonderful job. Thank you children of Rothersthorpe Primary. Thanks also go to Blisworth Art Group who designed the mural. The project was also supported by Canal & River Trust, who provided essential equipment.
On Saturday 13th July there was a lovely gathering to celebrate the opening of the second mural under the M1. Richard Parry, the CEO of Canal & River Trust unveiled the mural and commented on how impressed he was with the Art and the collaboration it took, also with the work achieved by the Northampton arm generally.
The event was attended by some of the school children who did the work, some of the Blisworth Art Group members who designed it, and of course the usual IWA representatives. Special mention goes to Sandie Morton and Geoff Wood for co-ordinating the project, getting it done, and organising opening ceremony.
This mural on the Northampton Arm follows on from the first one, completed last Summer by Depapre school children, which was on the towpath side of the canal.
