Branch Weekend Away 2020
Saturday 19th to Monday 21st September

This year it is the West Country; a horse drawn boat trip on the 'Tivertonian' along the Grand Western Canal.  Then a day at your own pace, exploring the West Somerset Railway, starting with a steam journey to the seaside at Minehead. Finally, IWA West Country Branch will host our visit to the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal.

Saturday 19th
We join the coach for an early start, Devon is a long way but there's a pub lunch waiting for us! There should be time for us to stretch our legs before we join the trip boat. Then a short trip back to check in at the Castle Hotel, Taunton; followed perhaps by a preprandial before dinner.

Sunday 20th
A short trip to Bishops Liddiard Station and on to the seaside; we will have 'freedom of the day' tickets, so you can explore every stop or spend the day by the seaside! We can't promise a ride on the Cheltenham Express.

Monday 21st
Check out and load the coach, then a short trip to Bridgwater where our hosts, IWA West Country Branch, will lead us on an exploration of parts of the River Parrett and the B&T Canal, delightful but remote waterways. B&T is just 14 miles of navigation, with 6 locks, linking the tidal River Parrett at Bridgwater to the River Tone at Taunton.  We then have a pub lunch before departing for home.

The cost will be circa £285 each if sharing a room and £365 for single occupancy; costs include hotel breakfasts, Saturday lunch and dinner, Sunday dinner and Monday lunch.
