Dear Users,
Our Annual Users Meeting will be held on Tuesday 23rd February at Langford and Ulting Village Hall, B1019 Maldon Road, Langford (opposite the Museum of Power). The meeting will start at 7.30 pm and conclude by 9.30 pm. This year our presentation will be different as it will illustrate many of the repairs and improvements that have been made during our ten years of operating the Navigation. Please join us to celebrate our anniversary and raise any issues or suggestions you may have as we start our next ten years!
Work to replace the lock cill timbers and overhaul the lock gates is now complete and the lock has been reopened.
New top gates have been made and we plan to close the lock to navigation as from the 22nd February for repairs to the lock cills and the installation of the new gates. This work will be weather dependant, but our plan is to reopen the lock for the Easter weekend. A temporary bridge will be installed to provide access to the Lock Island. We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause.
We are currently advertising (see the Essex Waterways Job Vacancies page) for a new Navigation Manager to succeed Graham Brown who completed his employment on the Navigation on 10th February. In the absence of a Navigation Manager, correspondence should be addressed to the Moorings & Fisheries Manager at Paper Mill Lock or to essex@waterways.org.uk. Enquiries about the vacancy should be addressed to recruitment@waterways.org.uk.
