The route was eight miles long and took an average of between two and three hours to complete.
The walk began at the village hall of the small, Warwickshire village of Lapworth. Having travelled down the Stratford-upon-Avon canal towpath the route continued along a narrow, country lane to join the towpath of the Grand Union Canal which leads north of the village. Leaving the towpath at rising bridge, the route lead west, along short stretches of road before opening out into picturesque footpaths and fields before rejoining the Stratford-upon-Avon canal towpath, leading back through Lapworth to the village hall.
