Join IWA Northampton Branch at its fortnightly work party. The group holds a regular work party on the Northampton Arm to help maintain the waterway follow the Branch's adoption of the navigation.
We will be working at Locks 8 and 11 on the Rothersthorpe flight
We will meet on the large bend before the road goes over the canal at lock 2 (I think this is called North Street). We will then use the track that runs parallel with the Arm down to the lock 6/7 area. We can then walk to locks 8 and 11. If anyone is unsure of my directions, please give me a ring and I will try and talk you through it.
We are going to carry out vegetation clearance on locks 8 and 11 by-pass weirs and channels, which are in quite a bad state (we have already done some work on lock 8). If time permits we will also edge the lock brickwork and do some litter picking in the area.
I will bring tea, coffee, hot water and biscuits with me.
Toilet facilities are available at Gayton Yard which is about 15 minutes walk away.
The times are flexible, so if you think you can only do a few hours please still come along.
All tools and personal protective equipment will be supplied by CRT.
It would be helpful if you are going to attend to let me know. I can be contacted at:-
firstname.lastname@example.org or phone Geoff on 01604 453932
All volunteers are welcome and should wear sturdy shoes, old clothes, be prepared for the weather and bring a packed lunch.
