Join IWA Northampton Branch at its fortnightly work party. The group holds a regular work party on the Northampton Arm to help maintain the waterway follow the Branch's adoption of the navigation.
We will be working at Far Cotton, and as before because of the building work by Lock 17, we need to meet at the end of West Cotton Close which leads on from the Old Towcester Road. We can then access the towpath from there.
If you are using a sat nav, NN4 8BZ postcode will get you near.
There is car parking available in nearby roads.
We are going to give the vegetation around lock 17 some attention at the start of Spring.
We have arranged for CRT to supply a petrol mower and the Branch will use it's 2 strimmers. There will be raking and other vegetation clearance to do and I am sure that there will also be some litter to be picked.
The task party will be led by Mick Butler.
Please wear old clothing and stout footwear also bring something to eat and drink with you.
Mick will bring tea, coffee, hot water and biscuits with him.
Toilet facilities are available at Morrisons Store at Victoria Promenade, which is about 5 minutes walk away from Lock 17.
The times are flexible, so if you think you can only do a few hours please still come along.
All tools and personal protective equipment will be supplied by CRT.
It would be helpful if you are going to attend to let me know. I can be contacted at:-
firstname.lastname@example.org or phone Mick on 01604 473756
This is a great opportunity, hope you can make it.
All volunteers are welcome and should wear sturdy shoes, old clothes, be prepared for the weather and bring a packed lunch. Contact Geoff Wood at email@example.com for more information.
