IWA Chiltern Branch is holding a Lock-Aid fundraising event on the Grand Union Canal at Marsworth Lock 39 by Bridge 132, 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday 11th & 12th August. We will be meeting boaters as they pass through the lock and donations from the public which will be going towards our project to build a slipway on the Wendover Arm. We welcome everyone to come along and find out what Chiltern Branch are up to and to say hello, and if so inclined can join in with the “Lock wheeling”. We will have book sales of pre-loved waterways books, so come along and pick up a bargain. Our highly acclaimed autumn-winter social events programme with great speakers with illustrated talks has just been published so you can pick up a copy. Everyone receives a warm welcome and refreshments when they come to a Chiltern Branch social.
Also, Marsworth is a great place for a day out, picturesque canal walks along the Marsworth Flight and the Wendover Arm or around the Tring reservoirs, with refreshments at the canal side café, or why not a pub lunch in the village… so make a day of it, we look forward to seeing you.
