PULL, SNAP, STOMP!
That's the Mantra from IWA for dealing with the removal of the invasive species 'Himalayan Balsam'. Manchester Branch has decided to dedicate our July working party to that national campaign. As there's no growths in the areas we normally work in, along the Ashton Canal, we're turning our attention, this month, to a branch of that canal, the former Hollinwood Canal. The work sites will be around the former staircase locks leading to the junction with the Park Bridge branch and around the spill weir at that junction.
Please meet at the Visitor Centre in the car park of the Daisy Nook Country Park, M35 9WJ at 10.00 or make your way to the above work sites.
There is car parking at Daisy Nook but it's a popular country park. Busses 230 & 231 running between Manchester and Ashton serve Daisy Nook. Alternatively, cycle or walk the towpath.
There's a cafe and toilets at the Visitor Centre.
