Tuesday 4th February 2010 – Volunteer Work Party at Brindley Bank, Rugeley. Start 9.30 am and finish about 2 pm. Meet at the bottom of the steps by the aqueduct on the Trent and Mersey Canal, accessed along the footpath between Albany Drive and the pumping station, off A460 Wolseley Road, Rugeley, WS15 2HP. Car parking at the pumping station. The work planned includes cutting back and clearing vegetation along the paths and towpath, clearing the steps, litter picking, and using grappling irons to remove obstructions in the canal. No experience needed but please wear stout shoes and old clothes. Canal and River Trust will provide welfare facilities and equipment including protective gloves. IWA will provide hot drinks, lunch and cake. In the event of bad weather on the day please check with Margaret to make sure the work party is going ahead.
