A regular monthly work party held jointly with the Trent & Mersey Canal Society, as part of the Cheshire Locks Project, on the 3rd Thursday each month.
Tasks will include vegetation management, clearing cobble setts, painting fences, balance beams and bollards.
No experience is necessary. You can turn up just for the morning or the afternoon, or come for the whole day and bring a packed lunch.
All tools will be provided – you just need to wear stout shoes and bring waterproofs in case of rain.
Following last months resumption of activity for the work party, we return to Lock 65 in Wheelock where we will continue work on the Heritage Railings around the by-wash. Given the favourable weather last time, excellent progress was made utilising revised methods of working so as to maintain safe distancing, not having to share tools, brushes etc. In addition, we may be able to carry out some preparation on the lock gates, rails, paddle gear ready for painting, weather permitting.
Contact our work party leader, John Lawson, in advance by emailing email@example.com if you would like to join this work party, as numbers are currently limited due to Covid-19 restrictions.
