Twice every year, in Spring and Autumn, we hold a canal clean-up weekend, supported by Canal & River Trust and The Parks Trust, and sponsored by Wyvern Shipping. The normal route is from Fenny Stratford to Old Wolverton, but every once in a while we head south, through Three Locks and Leighton Buzzard to Grove Lock. The amount of rubbish we collect each time is quite amazing. Everyone is welcome whether on a boat or on foot. We try and arrange overnight stops close to a pub. Refreshments are provided along the way but you are asked to bring your own lunch.
Why not come and join us and help with, for example, towpath litter picking or assisting with drag-lining the canal from a hopper provided by CRT. Hi-vis jackets, gloves, hard hats etc are provided, but please bring your own safety footwear if required.
If you are under 18, you must be part of a supervised group.
The Spring 2019 Clean-up will take place over Friday 5th – Saturday 6th April, working from Fenny Stratford Lock to the Galleon, Wolverton.
Friday 5th April: 09:30: Sign-in and Safety briefing, for 10:00 start at Fenny Stratford Lock, MK1 1BY.
Lunch break midday-ish. Overnight stop at the Giffard Park pub, MK14 5QN (Bridge 78).
Saturday 6th April: 09:30: Sign-in and Safety briefing for 10:00 start from the Giffard Park pub, MK14 5QN (Bridge 78). Finish at the Galleon pub, Wolverton, MK12 5NL (Bridge 68) early afternoon.
