George Rogers is selected as one of the 30 Volunteers’ Week Ambassadors05 June 2014
IWA's Waterway Recovery Group (WRG) is pleased to announce that volunteer George Rogers has been selected as one of thirty Volunteers’ Week Ambassadors.
Volunteer’s Week runs from the 1st - 7th June and is organised by NCVO (the National Council of Voluntary Organisations) in partnership with Volunteer Development Scotland, Volunteer Now (Northern Ireland) and Wales Council for Voluntary Action. As part of celebrations marking the thirtieth anniversary of Volunteer’s Week, the organisers have chosen thirty volunteers from across the country to be Volunteer’s Week Ambassadors.
‘The thirty ambassadors have been chosen to demonstrate the important, diverse roles volunteers play in our communities and to inspire others to get involved’ (Volunteers week)
George first volunteered with WRG in the summer between him leaving school and starting university. In just the few years since then he has been on over thirty Canal Camps and progressed to become a leader and cook on the Camps. To celebrate the week George led the London WRG weekend dig on the Chesterfield Canal.
A big congratulations to George for being selected.
