IWA Manifesto 2015

02 March 2015

Voting for the next General Election takes place on 7th May and we need your help.

IWA has produced a Manifesto for our future MPs, to demonstrate the importance of our waterways heritage and encourage them to work with us to protect it.

We are asking candidates to sign up to our Five Point Partnership and pledge their support for the waterways.

The Five Point Partnership includes the following:

  1. Protect our Heritage
  2. Build a Local Relationship with Constituency Waterways Groups
  3. Work with IWA in Parliament - Join the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Waterways
  4. Support the Transfer of Navigations Currently Managed by Environment Agency to Canal & River Trust
  5. Support Affordable New Off Line Moorings

Write to Local Candidates

With the General Election just around the corner, now is the time to write to prospective MPs in your area and encourage them to pledge their support for the waterways and sign up to IWA's Manifesto.

If you receive a pledge from a candidate please make sure you let Alison Smedley know by emailing alison.smedley@waterways.org.uk so that we can keep a record.

For more information on the manifesto and how to approach candidates please see IWA's website.
