Planning Proposals for Banbury Town Centre

Planning Proposals for Banbury Town Centre

12 December 2013

IWA Oxfordshire Branch has submitted a response to a planning application made on behalf of Scottish Widows to develop the canal area in Banbury. The application outlines proposals to develop Banbury Town Centre, which includes the covering of the Oxford Canal with a glazed canopy. IWA Oxfordshire Branch has objected to the plans on the grounds that the proposed development would have a detrimental affect on the Oxford Canal, which is currently a popular mooring spot for boaters navigating the waterway.  The Branch feel that such a development would result in fewer boaters choosing to stop in Banbury and this in turn would have a negative impact on local businesses, which boaters do support.
