On Friday 26th April Tony Hales, Canal & River Trust chairman, presented to Clive Henderson a portrait that the Trust had commissioned to mark Clive’s retirement as IWA Chairman last October, and in gratitude for his period as observer on the board of British Waterways whilst the Trust was conceived. In presenting the portrait to Clive during the opening night of artist Rob Pointon’s ‘Year of the Boat’ exhibition at Number Nine The Gallery in Brindley Place in Birmingham, Tony Hales said ‘Clive and IWA’s involvement and commitment during the vital period of developing the structure and purpose of the Canal & River Trust that was launched last July, was vital in helping us shape ourselves for the future good of the waterways and all their supporters. This wonderful painting will act as a lasting memento of our appreciation for his contribution of his time and knowledge’.
‘Year of the Boat’ exhibition at Number Nine The Gallery in Brindley Place runs until 18th May. Rob’s next exhibition will be in Gloucester Waterways Museum 1st to 22nd June.
