Plans for a new canal bridge over the Trent & Mersey Canal near Lichfield have been revised. The new bridge is to be built as part of the plans for the HS2 high speed rail line between London and the Midlands which has been estimated to cost £32 billion.
IWA raised an objection to plans for the bridge in the original consultation. The plan now includes increasing the clearance of HS2 to allow more room for narrowboats, which may also slightly improve flood management.
