The national press has recently reported on the proposed HS2 new rail line, citing comments and survey results from individuals and organisations, indicating the project is not justified and forecasting the imminent abandonment of it.
IWA's position hasn't changed as meetings are still going ahead and the parliamentary timetable for submission of legislation remains in place. Unless some political action is taken to halt work, the HS2 project will continue. IWA will therefore carry on checking the plans, consulting widely on what is proposed, preparing submissions for consultations, and taking on expert help to build our case and protect the interests of the waterways community, as it would be unwise to assume anything else.
