Members of IWA Chiltern Branch took part in a Canal & River Trust lock painting marathon on Saturday 29th September. IWA members joined members of other local organisations for a briefing session before setting out in different groups to paint three locks on the Aylesbury Arm. There were about 35 people in total, from various local groups, including children who enjoyed joining in.
Volunteers were all issued with protective overalls, gloves and lifejackets if they were working near the lockside. Four hours later, after preparing all the surfaces and applying lots of paint, all three locks were looking really smart and wet paint notices were put on to warn boats using the locks. All the equipment, paint, planning and organisation was provided by CRT.
