IWA Chiltern Branch has donated £1000 to Canal & River Trust to help meet the costs of repairs on the Aylesbury Arm and the Slough Arm of the Grand Union Canal.
One of the donations of £500 was made to Jeff Whyatt, General Manager of CRT’s South East Area, and is for work on Lock 12 of the Aylesbury Arm, which collapsed in March. This is a very expensive task and the failure of the lock has closed the navigation. It is hoped that the work will be completed by October.
The other donation, also of £500, was presented to John Guest, General Manager of CRT’s London Area, as a contribution towards the costs of repairs to Reeds Bridge, a footbridge over the Slough Arm. The canal was closed whilst the footbridge was removed.
The cheques were presented to Jeff Whyatt and John Guest by IWA Chiltern Branch Chairman, Dave Chapman, at the IWA National Waterways Festival, Cassiobury Park, Watford.
