IWA Stoke-on-Trent Branch held a canal clean up at Etruria on Wednesday 30th May, in the lead up to the Etruria Jubilee Canals Festival being held over the weekend of 2nd and 3rd June.

17 bags of rubbish were collected, by the 18 or so volunteers who turned up at the junction of the Caldon and Trent and Mersey Canals on a hot and sunny morning.

Four people carried out some litter picking afloat, using an aluminium boat and nets to pull rubbish out of the water.  Volunteers also removed a complete carpet and litter picked the whole festival site, including the length of canal towpath that will be used for moorings for the festival.
