Lock Wind at the Big Lock

Issue date: 6 May 2010

The IWA Chester & District Branch  lock wind at the Big Lock at Middlewich on the Trent & Mersey Canal over the May Day Bank Holiday proved a success.

It was organised by the Chester & District Branch of the IWA with boaters from the Bridgewater Motor Boat Club (BMBC) at Runcorn attending at the suggestion of another BMBC member Ian Short to take part. Ian is an active member of the Chester Branch of the IWA.

It was a well attended event, with the local IWA branch stall selling waterways related items and of course information for the public about the SOS waterways campaign.

The boaters who were assisted through this double lock were universally generous in their contributions and seemed very interested in the campaign, including visiting boaters from Russia and Sweden.
