FOR: Jo Gilbertson, Inland Waterways Association

FROM: Police spokesperson

SUBJECT: Braunston Marina

It is disappointing to read that some of the boaters who have used Braunston to moor their boats in recent weeks have such a negative opinion of the area.

Earlier this month four boats were broken into at Braunston and enquiries are on-going into those incidents, however, these burglaries were the first in a long time.

Over the course of the last 18 months a lot of work has been carried out in the area, with Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Kev Thompson patrolling the area two to three times a day when he is on duty.

PCSO Thompson has a boat moored at Braunston himself, so when he is not at work he can regularly be found there, proving reassurance out of hours.

He is in regular contact with boaters moored at Braunston, many of who have his personal mobile phone number, and works closely with the British Waterways office at the Marina.

Anyone with concerns about activities at Braunston can contact the Daventry Rural South Safer Community Team via email at

or by calling 03000 111 222.
