Supported by a small team of staff, IWA branch volunteers are organising more work parties and cleanups across the waterway network than ever before. Last year, our volunteers spent around 15,000 hours clearing the canals, painting, improving towpaths and much more. These work parties can see between 10 and 100 volunteers gathering to make a visible difference to a section of canal or river.
An incredible effort from our local branch volunteers has seen work parties and cleanups increase dramatically from a total of 22 work parties in 2011, to 252 in 2014, to improve your local waterways.

"We have a unique heritage, which we must hand over in good order to the next generation. If enough people volunteer, they can and do make a difference."
