Issue date: 22nd April
The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Waterways published its report on Monday 22nd April into the progress and future of the Canals and River Trust's Waterways Partnerships.
The chairs of the APPG, Sir Tony Baldry and Huw Irranca-Davies said "We are at an important stage in the life of the Waterways. It has been almost a year since the Canal and River Trust (CRT) was established and a new era in governance began.
The Waterway Partnerships have achieved a lot in a short amount of time and represent the huge potential in the new structure for the waterways. They have the opportunity to further enhance the waterways demographic and its popular appeal. The APPG looks forward to seeing the continued development of the Waterway Partnerships."
The APPG report delivers 11 recommendations to the partnerships that will help them further their objectives of bringing increased funding and volunteers into the waterways as well as advising and assisting local management.
