Derbyshire County Council and its contractor, NT Killingley Ltd have won an award from the Institution of Civil Engineers for the Chesterfield Canal Staveley Town Basin land reclamation scheme. The team was presented with the East Midlands Merit Award in the small project category by the Institution’s President at a recent awards ceremony in Nottingham.
The project is another piece in the jigsaw to aid the economic and environmental regeneration of the area. The Staveley Town Basin project is part of the scheme to restore Chesterfield Canal to a fully navigable waterway. Other partners in the project include the Chesterfield Canal Partnership and volunteers from the Chesterfield Canal Trust and Waterways Recovery Group.
