The Chesterfield Canal Trust is one of six projects to have been selected for the Jubilee People’s Millions in the ITV Yorkshire & Humberside Region. http://www.chesterfield-canal-trust.org.uk/index.php/latest-news/general-news/202-jubilee-peoples-millions

The project is called Electric Aven’Hugh. It is for an electric powered boat which will be fully accessible for the disabled, with an electro-hydraulic system to enable any user to steer the boat from anywhere within it, regardless of disability.

A film about the project will be broadcast by ITV in Calendar at 6p.m. on Monday 27th June. If the project gets more votes than the other project that day, The Chesterfield Canal Trust will be awarded the money.

Voting is only by phone. The number will be released on the day of transmission – Monday, 27th June.  The voting phone lines will open at 9 a.m. on Monday 27th June and close at midnight. It is possible to make up to 10 calls, i.e. 10 votes, from any one phone line. Calls cost 11p from normal landlines, so for £1.10 you can cast 10 votes. Calls from mobiles will cost more.

The phone number will appear in the Daily Mirror, on http://www.peoplesmillions.org.uk/2011-finalists/yorkshire/electric-avenhugh and on the Chesterfield Canal Trust website http://www.chesterfield-canal-trust.org.uk.
