The public are invited to see a 100 year old narrow boat begins its journey from Staffordshire, to take part in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant.
Steam narrow boat ‘President’, commissioned to take part in the Diamond Jubilee celebrations on behalf of the Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, will make three canal side stops in the county before she embarks on her three week, 300 mile route to London. The route is being funded exclusively by sponsorship from major Staffordshire businesses including JCB, Michelin, Wedgwood and St. Modwen.
President is one of the world’s only remaining steam powered vessels and was part built in Staffordshire; this is a fantastic opportunity to see her in all her glory as she steams through Staffordshire. See her from 12pm at Etruria Industrial Museum, Stoke-on-Trent on Friday 20th April, with the official send off at 1.30pm. President will also stop at Star Lock, Stone on Saturday 21st April (12 – 2pm) and Fradley Junction near Lichfield on Sunday 22nd April (12 – 2pm).
