Programme of Events

Illustrated Talk Evenings

Our programme of illustrated talks run from October through to May, usually on the 2nd Friday of each month.  The programme for Autumn 2018 to Spring 2019 is as follows:

Friday 12th October 2018 – Curious Cuts Phil Clayton looks at some of the has-beens, never-weres, oddities and eccentricities of the waterways.

Friday 9th November 2018 – Three Things you do not know about the RNLI A talk by Mark Thomas on the wide range of activities carried out by this much valued charity.  

Friday 14th December 2018 – Canal and River Trust – the Chief Executive's presentation - This presentation by Richard Parry will update on CRT's progress with current projects and look at future plans. 

 
Friday 8th February 2019 – Growing the Wooden Canal Boat Society - Chris Leah looks at the beginnings of the Wooden Canal Boat Society, the progress made, success and disappointments along the way and the present situation. 
 
Friday 8th March Annual General Meeting to be followed by a showing of archive film footage of local waterways.
 
Friday 14th April – The Four Ages of The Canals. This presentation by Bill Walker looks at the four periods our waterways have passed through to get from the start to where they are today. 

Admission to these talks is FREE. Refreshments available. Non-members are very welcome.

All meetings start at 8pm with the doors of the boat club opening at 7.45pm.
