Programme of Events


2020 Annual General Meeting  

Friday 4th September - 8pm - taking place by zoom video meeting.  Annual General Meeting (postponed from 13th March) followed by archive photos from the early years of the branch's history.  If you have any photos you would like to share please contact Steve Wood (using email convention firstname.surname@waterways.org.uk)

Illustrated Talk Programme

Our programme of illustrated talks run from October through to May, usually on the 2nd Friday of each month.  Meetings are open to everyone and entry is free.

NOTE:  Covid-19 regulations may mean that some of these talks have to take place online instead.  Please check this page shortly before each talk, or if you are a branch member, make sure that our membership team has your current email address so that you can receive notification.  

Friday 9th October – 7:45 for 8pm “The Waterway Recovery Group - a look at their work” by Helen Gardner

Friday 13th November – 7:45 for 8pm “The Cromford Canal - A history of the Cromford Canal, its restoration to date and future plans” by David Ratner

Friday 11th December – 7:45 for 8pm (talk not yet confirmed - we have requested a talk by a speaker from Canal and River Trust)

Friday 12th February 2021 – 7:45 for 8pm “The Staffordshire Riverway Link - an update on the project to link Stafford to the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal” by Ivor Hind

Friday 12th March 2021 – 7:45 for 8pm Annual General Meeting followed by Films presented by Alan Chetwyn

Friday 9th April 2021 – 7:45 for 8pm “The Daniel Adamson - The early working life of this steam ship, the restoration work needed to save The Danny and the ship’s new role as a tourist attraction” by Les Green and Bob Cannell

 

Admission to these talks is FREE. Refreshments available. Non-members are very welcome.

All meetings start at 8pm with the doors of the boat club opening at 7.45pm. 

Annual Dinner

at the The Rising Sun, Scholar Green
