Join us for an online talk on Finding, Accessing and Restoring our Waterways with London WRG by Tim Lewis.

Tim is Chairman of IWA North & East London branch and leader of the London Waterway Recovery Group, He will give a presentation on the work (and play!) of the London branch of WRG with examples of projects at all different stages and varying complexity.

The group travels all over the midlands, south and west of England to work on canal restoration and maintenance projects. London WRG normally does about 14 weekends of canal restoration each year but sadly this has not been possible this year.

He will draw on various projects over the years and encourage us to join in or otherwise support the work.

Waterway underfunding

Hundreds of miles of waterways – along with their unique heritage and habitats – are currently starved of funding and rely on constant lobbying by us to safeguard their future.

Sustainable Boating

We want boating on canals and rivers to be more sustainable and – even though the current overall contribution to UK carbon emissions is very small – we want to help reduce emissions on the waterways.

Waterways Heritage at Risk

Britain’s canals and rivers are a unique, living heritage. But that heritage is at risk – from urban development, lack of protection, loss of skills and knowledge and climate change.

You can help Save Waterways Heritage.

Waterway restoration

Restoring the UK’s blue infrastructure – our inherited network of navigable canals and rivers – is good for people and places.
