Ways to volunteer

Dip your toe in

Pop along for an hour or two to join your local branch’s canal clean-ups and work parties, helping you to get outdoors, and make a visible difference to the waterways in your area.  Many of our branches hold evening and daytime social events and talks about the waterways.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Jump right in

If you have more time to offer, we have a range of committees and advisory panels at local, regional and national levels.  There are lots of ways to get involved, from organising events to monitoring planning applications to editing newsletters.  Vacancies and opportunities become available all the time, so check back if you don’t see what you would like to do first time.

Something Different

Not sure what you would like to do?  Tell us the sort of things you are interested in, what part of the country you live in, and we will try to match you up with something appropriate.  Contact us with the link below, or get in touch with Jenny Hodson, our volunteer manager.

Come on holiday with us

If you’ve got a week (or even just a weekend) to spare then you could restore a canal with modern day navvies, across England and Wales.  No experience required!

Support our campaigns

Keep your eyes and ears open and let your local branch know of anything that may be detrimental to the waterways. Plus, you could support our campaigns, share what we are doing, or fundraise for us.  See which of our campaigns inspire you the most…
