Huddersfield Broad Canal


The Huddersfield Broad Canal runs from the Huddersfield Narrow Canal at Aspley Basin to Cooper Bridge on the Calder and Hebble Navigation.  The Huddersfield Broad Canal is 3.3 miles (5.3 km) long and has 9 locks.

The maximum size of boat that can navigate the Huddersfield Broad Canal is
length: 56' 9" (17.3 metres) - lock 6
width: 14' 2" (4.32 metres) - lock 6
height: 9' 2" (2.8 metres) - Vernon Bridge (No 4)
draught: 5' 7" (1.7 metres) - lock 6

A Sanitary Station key is required to operate Turnbridge Loco Lifting Bridge (no 17)
A handcuff key is required to operate lock 9 (Red Doles Lock)
