Historical Information

The Act of Parliament for this canal was passed in 1792.  The canal ran from the Cromford Canal at Langley Mill to the River Trent at Nottingham.  The canal provided the city with a direct link to the coalfields around Ripley, Eastwood and Ilkeston.
