The North Wilts Canal provided a connection between the Thames & Severn and Wilts & Berks canals. It was abandoned at the same time as the latter.
The North Wilts Canal provided a connection between the Thames & Severn and Wilts & Berks canals. Part of the route has been built upon, but restoration is proposed as part of the project to restore the main line of the Wilts & Berks Canal.
Moredon Lock and Aqueduct on the North Wilts Canal have largely been restored and provide a showpiece length, and Swindon Borough Council built a major road crossing at Purton Road in 2001.
£13,960 was awarded the Shrivenham Canal Park Project as part of IWA’s Waterways in Progress Grants.
