(9 miles,Canalised river navigation owned by North Walsham Canal Company and others)

Ambitions to restore the navigation started as early as 1953 with a visit by Robert Aickman and sporadic activity commenced in the 1980's. The East Anglian Waterways Association continues to hold regular work parties with the North Walsham & Dilham Canal Trust at Honing, Briggate and Ebridge Locks, with sessions to clear encroaching trees from the bottom two-mile stretch up to Honing Lock, which is currently largely navigable.  The Association has also undertaken a detailed environmental survey of the canal and engineering studies on lock restoration and other technical matters.
