Stroudwater Navigation

The Stroudwater Navigation is 8 miles (12.9km) long and is mostly owned by the Company of Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation.

The navigation authority is the Stroud Valleys Canal Company (SVCC) which is a registered charity set up in 2009 to look after and manage the canal.

CCT and other volunteers are working on the locks east of Stroud, which, in conjunction with the work contractors will carry out for Stroud District Council, should see the canal navigable from Stonehouse to just short of Brimscombe by the end of 2015.

Due the economic crisis, the redevelopment of Brimscombe Port has been put on hold pending the recovery and/or additional funding.

CCT is leading the 4 mile long Phase 1B project which will link the Phase 1A length with the rest of the canal network at Saul Junction. A funding bid is being assembled for this purpose.
