In and on the water

IWA's West Riding Branch endeavours to see that navigation and facilities are maintained and improved for users of the waterways.

A united voice

The branch is keen to develop its relationship with all users of the water: powered boats, paddlers, anglers, ecologists, businesses - anyone who enjoys or uses the wet stuff!

Everyone has different needs and we all share the same waterways.

We hope to be able to bring together those with similar interests and campaign for issues that affect your use of the waterways.

Our wish list

Into the future we'd like to see:

  • Increased number of visitor moorings at Saltaire on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal

  • A water point between Todmorden and Littleborough on the Rochdale Canal

  • The completion of a high quality canoe trail from Liverpool all the way to Goole on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and Aire & Calder Navigation supporting safe use of canoes

Do you want to get involved in making these projects become reality? Or do you have something else you'd like to add to the list? Please get in touch:

Success at Saltaire

Our campaigning resulted in a small number of official visitor moorings being installed at Saltaire, on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, to allow boaters to stop off and enjoy the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
