River Waveney Canal Camps

COVID 19 Update

We know this is a challenging time for everyone, and in light of Government guidelines we have taken the decision to postpone our  planned River Waveney Canal Camps: 23rd May – 6th June until further notice. We will work alongside our volunteer leaders, host societies and our accommodation providers to find another suitable date in the future.

Location: Suffolk

Activities: Lock Repairs

Summary: The River Waveney forms the boundary between Suffolk and Norfolk running past Bungay and Beccles. Since 2017 WRG volunteers have been restoring Geldeston Lock and this summer, working alongside the River Waveney Trust, volunteers will focus their efforts restoring one side of the lock – removing damaged brickwork and carrying out repairs using lime mortar.

These two weeks will be limited to just 10 volunteers and is being planned as a training opportunity for volunteers looking to develop leadership skills and brickwork. To register your interest in joining us, please contact alex.melson@waterways.org.uk
